Telling the Children

My Wife and the Children who have been very supportive

That weekend we decided to tell the Children what dad had got to have done. Up until now all they knew was that I had had an operation to remove the lump and my breast had disappeared and I had a 6inch scar in its place.

We now sat them down and told them about the Chemo treatment I was going to have , as dad was going to sometimes be ill in order to get better . That’s how we played it dad was having the treatment to get better , but his hair may fall out and he may feel sick . My Daughter Charlie (12) didn’t want to hear and ran up stairs , My Son Louie (9) who I thought would have been more of a concern , took it well and asked lots of questions. After time Charlie came downstairs again and we all discussed it further and in the end were both ok about what dad was going to go through.

We have encouraged them to ask questions from then on and we told there schools so they were aware , incase questions were asked , or they appeared upset at school.
